Introduction to School and Team
Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a vice ministerial level university directly under the central government, and a key construction university under the "985 Project", "211 Project", and "2011 Plan". The School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering has two first level disciplines, "Civil Engineering" (including intelligent construction and management, road and traffic engineering) and "Hydraulic Engineering". Civil Engineering is a key discipline in Hubei Province, and Bridge and Tunnel Engineering is a key discipline of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development. The research group relies on the National Digital Construction Technology Innovation Center and mainly engages in information technology research in the engineering construction industry. Under the leadership of Academician Ding Lieyun, the center has more than 80 faculty and researchers, and has undertaken multiple key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation, and major science and technology projects in Hubei Province. Its core mission is to break through key core technologies in digital construction and achieve industrialization of major research achievements, creating an internationally influential and competitive digital construction technology innovation highland, and promoting the transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development of China's construction industry.
【 Mentor Introduction 】
Dr. Zhang Limao, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Selected by the National Overseas High level Talent Program and recipient of the Hubei Outstanding Youth Fund. I served as an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore from 2017 to 2021. In recent years, I have led and undertaken multiple scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation and the Singapore Ministry of Education. Focusing on disaster prevention and mitigation issues in civil engineering and management, I have combined computer simulation and artificial intelligence to accurately measure, predict, and prevent engineering disaster risks from multiple dimensions such as design, construction, and operation. The research results are presented by the first or corresponding author in IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, Automation in Construction, Reliability Engineering and System Safety,Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering More than 150 SCI papers have been published in authoritative journals, with a total citation count of over 8000 on Google Scholar. The Web of Science H-index is 41, and 10 papers have been selected as "ESI Highly Cited Papers". Multiple times selected for Stanford University's "Top 2% Global Scientists List" (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) and Elsevier's China Highly Cited Scholar List, obtained 8 national invention patent authorizations, served as an editorial board member for the international journal Automation in Construction, founding editor in chief of the Journal of Building Design and Environment, and expert reviewer for multiple authoritative journals.
【 Research Direction 】
The specific research direction will be jointly discussed and formulated based on the applicant's background and the research project undertaken by the research group. At present, the research group mainly focuses on the direction of intelligent construction, with the following four core directions. List some relevant papers in the group in recent years for reference.
Direction 1: BIM and human-machine collaboration (including log processing, process mining, collaborative design, etc.) [1-4];
Direction 2: Intelligent construction (including tunnel construction safety warning, TBM control and optimization, digital twin, robots, etc.) [5-8];
Direction three: Smart operation and maintenance (including structural health monitoring, disease identification, point cloud processing, energy conservation and carbon reduction, etc.) [9-12];
Direction four: Urban resilience (including GIS, disaster simulation and emulation, resilience assessment, crowd evacuation, etc.) [13-16].
