The laboratory is committed to creating an efficient innovation system and a thriving innovation ecosystem, building a high-precision and cutting-edge technology support platform, promoting the transformation of research paradigms for efficient allocation of innovation elements, and stimulating the creativity of various talents. The laboratory gathers the advantages of life sciences, jointly builds a collaborative innovation community in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and strives to become an international first-class science and technology innovation highland.
Introduction to the Research Institute/Center
The Pingshan Biomedical R&D and Transformation Center of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (referred to as "Pingshan Center") is a second-class public institution jointly established by Shenzhen Bay Laboratory and Pingshan District People's Government. It is an important research and transformation window and demonstration base, focusing on building new drug R&D platforms, medical drug transformation platforms, public technology service platforms, and nucleic acid drug research institutes. It is committed to providing first-class support service platforms, pharmaceutical transformation platforms, and public technology service platforms for pharmaceutical enterprises, R&D institutions, and start-up teams in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
New drug research and development platform: 1. Build chemical biology modules, small molecule pharmacology modules, and peptide protein pharmacology modules; 2. Explore new mechanisms of drug action, new targets of drug action, and innovative drug development; 3. Develop a series of stable peptide modulators directly related to important human diseases within cells; 4. Utilize chemical biology and computational chemistry methods, combined with AI and other technologies, to study drug molecule target interactions.
Medical conversion platform: ① Human cyclin dependent kinase 9 inhibitors as anti-tumor targeted drugs; ② New generation of drug-resistant anaplastic lymphoma kinase Type-I1/2 inhibitors; ③ Targeted drugs for drug-resistant recurrent estrogen receptor positive breast cancer; ④ Targeted drugs specifically targeting class I histone deacetylases.
The Nucleic Acid Drug Research Institute is an integral part of the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Life Information and Biopharmaceuticals) and is managed by the Pingshan Biomedical R&D and Transformation Center. The purpose of establishing a nucleic acid drug research institute is to solve the basic theoretical or applied theoretical problems encountered in the research, development, transformation, and production of nucleic acid drugs, and to fully promote major breakthroughs and original discoveries in nucleic acid drugs. Currently, the field of nucleic acid research is in an important period of transitioning from quantitative accumulation to qualitative leap, and from breakthrough to system capability improvement. Chinese scientists urgently need to gather strength under the support of * * * research platforms, target the world's difficult problems in nucleic acid research, seize the general trend, and play the "first move" well. Starting from the existing advantageous research directions in China, we will jointly develop and transform original nucleic acid drugs with the Shenzhen Nucleic Acid Drug Conversion Production Base, serving China's biopharmaceutical research and socio-economic development. Our goal is to lead the forefront of world science and technology, adhere to the combination of basic and applied transformation, and face the major national needs and people's life and health, becoming an innovative benchmark leading the development of life sciences in the world.
The main project directions of the Nucleic Acid Drug Research Institute include the following: 1) Biological functions and drug potential of typical extracellular non coding RNAs; 2) The biological functions and key pharmaceutical issues of long non coding RNA and circular RNA; 3) Modification and delivery of nucleic acid drugs; 4) New methods, technologies, and exploration of "no man's land" in nucleic acid drug research; 5) Development of extracellular vesicle based drugs; 6) Third generation nucleic acid drug delivery systems, etc.
