Measurement Model of Capital Adequacy of Insurance Companies and Research on Economic Capital （2） Research Background
At the end of 2021, the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission issued the Solvency Supervision Rules for Insurance Companies (II), marking a new stage in the regulatory authorities' supervision of the capital adequacy of insurance companies. Among them, the capital planning of insurance companies is separately documented, further clarifying regulatory standards and emphasizing that insurance companies should continuously improve their capital management level
Based on the experience of developed insurance markets in Europe and America, insurance companies establish corresponding capital adequacy measurement models that meet internal management needs, calculate required economic capital, and form a closed-loop management mechanism for capital planning, evaluation, and analysis based on industry common models and parameters, based on their own risk management characteristics and strategic planning requirements. This is an important aspect of financial actuarial work for top insurance companies in Europe and America. At the same time, establishing a capital adequacy measurement model and measuring economic capital is another important development area for China's insurance actuarial profession, following reserve assessment and insurance product rate determination

This project aims to review the theoretical and practical aspects of capital adequacy analysis methods, model construction, and other aspects of the insurance industry both domestically and internationally. Based on current Chinese insurance regulatory requirements and the development trends and risk characteristics of top insurance companies, we will construct a capital adequacy measurement model for insurance companies and discuss an economic capital calculation framework and parameter system that is suitable for their own management needs.
